The Goodyear XPLR Slick tyre is part of a revolutionary wheel and tyre system. It is a competition tyre for semi-slick gravel designed for Zipp's exclusive 303 XPLR SW and S wheels, offering the fastest combination of wheel and tyre on soft to moderate gravel.
On dry terrain, it delivers the best performance. Today's gravel wheel systems are slightly more robust versions of what's seen on the road: lightweight, stiff, narrow, and aerodynamic. The issue is that riding on gravel causes harmful vibrations that slow progress and increase fatigue over time. Additionally, gravel tyres tend to neutralise the aerodynamic advantages of traditionally narrow rims.
The Slick has been designed to measure 40 mm on the 303 XPLR wheel. The new XPLR wheel and tyre system takes a completely new approach and optimises component dimensions to achieve the fastest configuration on the market.
In addition to unbeatable aerodynamic benefits for gravel, the rim width also allows for lower tyre pressure, which eliminates vibrations and conserves more energy.
The XPLR Slick offers the most aerodynamic gravel setup with the 303 XPLR SW and S wheels and is best suited for racing on smooth, dry gravel. Its smooth centre allows for fast rolling, while the texture and treads in the corners provide a certain level of confidence. Its lightweight and flexible structure enhances ride quality.
The M:Wall reinforcements on the sides offer puncture protection, allowing the rider to ride with the lowest possible air pressure.
And finally, the tyre dimensions are designed to ensure a comfortable fit and secure hold on Zipp TSS rims. Only approved tyres can be used with XPLR wheels.
