The SRAM RED® shifter and brake controls have a new look and continue our philosophy of perfecting the interface between rider and bike.
We looked at everything, including the transition between the handlebars and the hoods, the texture of the grip, the finger wrapping and the separate interfaces with the shifter and brake lever.
The result is an extremely comfortable and highly individual fit that makes the shifter and brake controls feel like a natural extension of the rider.

Technology:
- DoubleTap: DoubleTap® makes shifting easier and faster, eliminating the cumbersome and awkward engagement associated with two-lever systems. DoubleTap handles up and down shifts in one short, sweeping motion with minimal effort and maximum comfort, no matter where you are on the bars. DoubleTap® uses two pawls, one to hold the ratchet wheel and the other to carry it up and down through the shift. The pawls are arranged so that they can jump over each other depending on the distance and pressure you apply to the shift lever. With short, quick taps, the transport pawl (04) moves the ratchet wheel (02) up into the gearshift range.
Downshifting is carried out by a longer sweep of the lever (in the same inward direction as upshifting, but at an ergonomically maximised angle of 15°), with the holding pawl (03) and transport pawl jumping over each other quickly and smoothly. - Location, location, location: DoubleTap's one-motion unidirectional levers (05) work perfectly, no matter what position you're shifting from.
Its double-jointed design (01), which is completely separate from the brake pivot, is easily engaged from the hoods or drops.
Unlike all other front controls, DoubleTap® also allows you to pull the shifter against the bars so you can shift up while sprinting or attacking without giving up a firm grip. On DoubleTap® controls, the brake and shift levers are completely independent, each operating with its own pivot points.
This not only allows for multi-position functionality, but also eliminates the risk of inadvertently engaging the brakes or shifters... an unfortunate side effect of other shift/brake lever designs. - ErgoDynamics:- Longer brake levers, independent brake and shift lever reach adjustment, and an optimized hood shape provide comfort and easy access to controls for riders of all sizes.
- Reach adjustment: Brake lever adjustment and feel is a personal thing. Riders have individual positioning preferences, as well as unique hand sizes and finger lengths. Reach Adjust makes it easy to adjust your lever for maximum one-finger control for everyone.
- Yaw: The front derailleur cage rotates to maintain a consistent angular relationship with the chain. Yaw technology eliminates the need for a derailleur liner. As a result, shifting feels more direct, more precise and, combined with the new Red crankset and chainrings, offers an unmatched performance advantage in front shifting.
- ZeroLoss:- ZeroLoss simply means, well, zero loss... when you press the lever, for an up or down shift, the cable is engaged instantly... zero loss of motion. There is no middle ground where you wait for the shift to come. Shifts are instantaneous and precise.
