VLT
VLT, or visible light transmission, is the amount of light that passes through the lens to reach your eye. For example, a dark-tinted lens will have a low VLT percentage, while a light-tinted lens will have a higher VLT percentage.
FILTER CATEGORIES
Category 0
Light transmission 80-100% - Colorless or very léger filter. Usually sports or goggles designed to protect against wind, dust or debris, but not the sun.
Category 1
Light transmission 43 - 80% - Very lightly colored lenses, usually yellow or orange, suitable for weaker sunlight or protection against wind or dust.
Category 2
Light transmission 18 - 43% - Medium dark filters suitable for medium sunlight and casual wear. Their tint is slightly lighter than usual. Can be used for spring and autumn walks on sunny days. They will also be useful when driving and moving frequently between sun and shade.
Category 3
Light transmission 8 - 18% - Dark filter suitable for intensive solar radiation on the beach or in town. This category is typical for most types of sunglasses. They are perfect for summer, as they offer a higher degree of protection against solar radiation than the previous category.
Category 4
Light transmission 3 - 8% - Very dark filter for very intense solar radiation. Sunglasses for mountains and deserts, and wherever the sun is not only extremely strong, but also reflects a lot. These sunglasses cannot be used for driving.
