The new Apex shifter, as in every road groupset from SRAM, features the patented DoubleTap® technology, with advantages such as the independent "guard adjustment" of the brake and gearshifts. The Apex handlebar uses a single lever for shifting and a specific lever for braking. - How it works: DoubleTap® uses two pawls, one to support the ratchet wheel and a second to move it up and down during shifting. The pawls are positioned so that they can jump depending on the distance and pressure with which you press the shift lever. Very quickly, the stop pawl (04) moves the ratchet wheel (02) through the shift area. Downshifting is done by a longer movement of the lever (in the same inward direction as you raised it, but without using the ergonomic maximum of 15°) with the support stop (03) and the transport pawl, jumping alternately in a fast and smooth way.Position
